The Lavender Federation Trail has seen various stile designs over the years ranging from a design with bent pipes going across the fences, to the latest and most popular one designed by George Adams who was on the SARTI Board and the LFT Trail Maintenance Manager at the time.
The “C” Channel design is lightweight, strong, easy to assemble, transport and install and most importantly easy to cross. They have weathered the time with only a couple needing repair (through external issues). A great bonus was that the design was economical, and George had his local men’s group manufacturing them ‘on mass’ or a few at a time, whatever the demand was. No doubt George’s experience as the installer and Maintenance Manager was a good motivator and inspiration for a great design.
The SARTI Board would like to thank George for his great design and acknowledgement that he has freely passed on the design for our use. Additionally, other walking groups have also taken up the design and are acknowledging George’s work. His stile design was also used extensively on the Clare Valley Wine and Wilderness Trail. We also thank George’s team for putting them together ready for our volunteers to install on site.
